2013 Infiniti IPL G Convertible Press Kit: At a Glance
The 2013 IPL G Convertible, which becomes the second model in the Infiniti Performance Line lineup when it goes on sale at Infiniti retailers in spring 2012, unleashes performance from a new perspective – a top-down, wide-open, wind-in-your-face one. Like the standard Infiniti G37 Convertible that serves as its foundation and the IPL G Coupe, with which it shares its performance philosophy, the new IPL G Convertible combines seductive style with a highly engaging driving experience.
| The IPL G Convertible’s VQ37HR 3.7-liter V6 engine’s management system has been recalibrated through air-fuel mixture and ignition timing optimization, raising the maximum horsepower output point to 7,400 rpm (from 7,000 rpm). To obtain a natural acceleration feel, the torque curve from low revs to the maximum torque point (5,200 rpm) was tuned for linearity. As a result of these changes, and to the exhaust system, the IPL G Convertible generates 343 horsepower – an increase of 18 horsepower over the non-IPL G Convertible models – and 273 lb-ft of torque (+6 lb-ft).
The IPL G Convertible is available with an electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching and quick-shift Drive Sport (DS) mode with magnesium paddle shifters and Adaptive Shift Control (ASC). It also features an IPL-tuned suspension and Sport brakes. |
The enhancements over the stock G Convertible are not limited to engine performance only, however. The Infiniti Performance Line mission focuses on “total vehicle performance,” including unique driving attributes and exclusive exterior and interior features at a highly attractive price point – which precisely fits the new IPL G Convertible.
IPL G Convertible exterior modifications include a dramatic front bumper/fascia design with integrated fog lights and black finishers, sculpted side sills and chrome exhaust tips. Exclusive 19-inch IPL split 7-spoke graphite-finish wheels and low-profile W-rated Bridgestone Potenza RE050A performance tires add a confident stance and road-ready attitude, while its two available exterior colors, Moonlight White and Malbec Black, add to its exclusive jewel-like presence.
The IPL G Convertible’s interior is similarly offered in just two color treatments – Stone and IPL-exclusive Monaco Red – and include red-stitched leather-appointed front sport seats with manual thigh extension and driver’s power torso and thigh support adjustment, red-stitched steering wheel, Silk Obi aluminum trim, embroidered IPL logo on the front seatbacks and front floor mats, iPod® interface, power tilt/telescopic steering wheel and aluminum trimmed pedals and footrest.
Other standard IPL G Convertible interior features include a 13-speaker Bose® Open Air sound system, Climate-controlled front seats, Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System, Infiniti Voice Recognition for audio navigation, memory system for driver’s seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors, RearView Monitor and Rear Sonar System.
